SPICY STEAK

I love a good steak. Actually, I love most steaks. Ribeyes, sirloins, filets, whatever. I will eat them all forever. My poor parents didn’t know what they were getting into when they introduced me to this protein. Even when I was 8 years old I was ordering steak off the adult menu. Whoops.

We don’t typically have steak much, but when we do I savor every moment of it. Usually Target will have pretty good looking sirloins for a decent price. So when I got a steak craving I picked a couple up right away. Usually I will just cook the steak straight up with a little salt, pepper & butter. But this time I decided to go in a more spicy direction.

I decided to marinate the steak in the morning so that it would be full of flavor that night. I added coconut aminos ( or soy sauce ), worcestershire ( which I will always add to steaks, no matter what the flavor profile ), garlic powder, ground ginger, red pepper flakes, sriracha & the juice from 1 lime. If I ever use lime juice in a marinade I always add the used lime in with it.

Once I was home & ready for dinner I removed my steak from the marinade & seasoned them with salt & pepper. In a cast iron skillet I added about a tablespoon of canola oil over medium high heat & added in chopped seranno peppers & fresh ginger. This will give the oil flavor & spice to cook the steak in. After about 3 minutes, I removed the serannoes & ginger to add my steak. I like my steak medium rare so I only cooked it for about 3-4 minutes per side. Your cooking time will vary on your preference & size of your steak.

That’s it! I topped the steak with extra red pepper flakes & my serranoes/ginger mixture to send the spice a little over the edge. I served it with my “Ginger & Green Onion Rice” & it was the perfect combo!

You may not love steak as much as I do, but trust me. If spice is your game, this is perfect for you!

Bon Appetit!
